Description

I have converted my old broken Military Radio (UK/PRC319) into a new Ruggedized  QRP transceiver.
This is the "Trojan Horse Radio".
This is a 'One of a Kind' radio. See CQ Magazine, June 2017. p. 34, for the entire story.
Just as the regular PRC319,  This  319 Lite QRP radio is able to withstand the rigors and abuse of the most severe Field Days, IOTA, SOTA , NPOTA and ECOMM Operations. It can meet all the Military  Environments: Thermal stress, Altitude (tested to 14,000 feet), Immersion, Shock, Humidity, Rain, Salt Fog, Dirt and Dust, Earthquakes and Coffee spills.
It looks like a real PRC319
but It has a  '1 Watter'  inside driving a Pacific Antenna, 10W amplifier. It is currently set for 7 watts output. It has a Low Power/High Power switch.
It is operating Class C.
The CW keyer inside uses the ATmel AVR Microprocessor as an
Iambic-Mode-B Keyer (
ATtiny45 chip).
On power-Up, the keyer defaults to 15 WPM and a sidetone of 625 Hz and annunciates "1W".
It has more computing power than the Apollo 13 Moon Lander.
The Frequency range is about 14.057 to 14.062 MHz, CW Only. It has an internal keyer.
It also has a ‘QRPguys’ Digital Frequency counter in the display window. The red counter numbers '
4.0604
', show a frequency of 14.0604 MHz.
All the schematics are on line and all the internal sub-assemblies are easy to repair.
It comes with a Clansman 14 cell (26650) LiIon battery at 24V.
It is about 6 AH and includes a battery charger. The pictures show the radio on different batteries, it will run on any Clansman 24V battery. All of the internal subassemblies are powered by 12V regulators and so they don't depend on the battery voltage for stability.
It has a speaker that is built into a dummy EMU case.
It is mounted on an Alice Back Pack and has an accessor

bag.  It weighs about 15 pounds on the pack. The radio with the battery  is 4" x 8" x 14".
It does
not
have a Key, whip antenna or antenna tuner.
